Justin spent the two weeks before Christmas in the Chicago area. Mostly he was working, but he did have some time to sight see. He flew out on Dec 7th early in the morning and spent the whole day traveling. He had a three and a half hour delay which turned into an eight hour delay. After a long day he finally made it and was able to settle into his hotel room. Monday through Thursday he spent working at a power plant in Clinton, Illinois. Friday though the little boy from Idaho went to the Illinois capital in Springfield. He toured around the capital and then went to the Lincoln Museum. There he got me a Illinois Blue Book like the one I got when I visited there in probably 4th grade. Of course being a country boy he found a huge Bass Pro Shop to visit. Of course he still likes Cabela’s better. Later that night Justin traveled back to Chicago to pick his co-worker up from the airport so they could work together the next week. Saturday they relaxed and took it easy. Sunday the boys went back to downtown Chicago, they even traveled by the Metra, city busses and a trolley! Due to high winds they were not able to travel up the Sears tower but they did visit Navy Pier where they spent some time in a tropical paradise. Later they went to the Museum of Science and industry. I really hope you enjoy the pictures from there, they saw some really amazing things including full size trains, submarines and even Apollo 8!
Monday it was back to work this time in Warrenville. They worked that week teaching nine others to use the program Justin’s company makes. The week was full of lunches and new experiences. By Thursday though they had finished their class but because of flights and a little because of weather they had to stay in the area. Friday they decided to use their last day to go back downtown and were able to travel 103 stories to the top of the Sears tower. That is something I didn’t do when I went to Chicago. Of course I didn’t get pocket change when I went and I wasn’t going to pay the $14.00 to ride and elevator. The flight home was a long and boring day too, I was eager to have Justin home and go do our final walk though. Over 300 flights had been canceled the day before creating chaos of all sorts. Minuets after checking out of the hotel Justin got a call from the airline telling him that the flight was delayed. Of course he got to then spend extra time in the airport. It all happened again in Salt Lake when the flight there was delayed again. I guess it was o.k. because we ended up being busy at work and I wouldn’t have been able to get off early to meet him anyway. I was finally able to pick him up and very glad to see my husband again. We went over to the house and did a final walk though and then spent the rest of the night and the next day trying to get some rest before the next busy week which consisted of buying a house, Christmas, and moving. Enjoy the pictures!
